Punishment Meets Noble is the standard English name for 相刑遇貴, a compact San Ming Tong Hui rule that pairs specified Earthly Branch punishments with source-defined stem or noble evidence, especially across the Day and Hour positions. The passage gives historical officials as examples and links the pattern to judicial or military authority. Those biographical claims are not a modern personality test: the label does not prove violence, criminality, legal talent, government power, wealth, or rank.

The verse requires both punishment and an accompanying noble condition
The source opens with day–hour punishment meeting nobility, then names several branch-punishment routes with accompanying stems. It illustrates the rule with Liu Yingjie’s Gui Wei, Yi Mao, Bing Xu, Wu Zi chart and another Bing-Day example involving Shen and Si.
This is more specific than finding the word “punishment” in a chart. A defensible reading must identify the exact branches, direction or completeness of the adopted punishment rule, relevant position, companion stem or noble evidence, and the source edition used for the mapping.

Relation, placement, strength, and surrounding structure remain separate tests
Different schools handle partial, directional, and self-punishments differently. The adopted rule should be disclosed before deciding that a punishment exists. The Day and Hour emphasis cannot be silently replaced by the same branches anywhere in the Four Pillars.

Safety, criminal, employment, legal, and mental-health judgments require observed conduct, records, due process, and qualified professionals. Never use this pattern to report a person, restrict opportunity, assign weapons or authority, or predict legal outcomes.
