What Is Follow Warlord Pattern (從殺格), or Follow Seven Killings, in BaZi?
Learn how 從殺格 differs from an ordinary Seven Killings Pattern, which roots and supports block full following and how OpenFate reports partial status.
Overview
Follow Seven Killings Pattern is the clearer English name for 從殺格; “Follow Warlord Pattern” is retained as the workbook and route label. Classical follower texts describe a Day Master without a workable root or same-side support facing an overwhelmingly dominant authority or Seven Killings side, so the chart is read by following that force. This is not the same as an ordinary Seven Killings Pattern selected from the month command, and it is not established by a weak Day Master or one Seven Killings star. OpenFate evaluates dominance, roots, residual Self and Resource support, month command and valid follower-side interactions, then separates formed 從殺格 from 從殺未純. It does not publish internal thresholds as universal classical law.

Following requires dominance and the loss of an effective opposing base
Di Tian Sui describes true following when the Day Master is isolated and weak, lacks support across the chart, and the force being followed is exceptionally strong. San Ming Tong Hui similarly requires no effective Peer or Resource support before treating the chart as compelled to follow Killings.
A weak Day Master alone is insufficient. The analysis must identify the authority-side driver, its seasonal and structural support, the Day Master’s roots, visible and hidden Self or Resource support, and any interaction that restores an opposing base.

Do not confuse a follower structure with Seven Killings Pattern
A standard Seven Killings Pattern asks whether Seven Killings leads the effective month command and whether control or transformation makes that structure workable. Follow Seven Killings instead asks whether the chart has lost a viable independent base and must be interpreted along the dominant authority side.
Eating God control, Resource transformation, roots, combinations and competing drivers can therefore change the follower claim even when Seven Killings remains important. The two pattern names answer different structural questions.

- Do not use “many Seven Killings stars” as a substitute for either route.
OpenFate distinguishes formed following from 從殺未純
OpenFate’s classical-pattern analysis checks authority-side dominance and composition, Day Master support, roots, month command, visible and hidden opposition, and implemented interactions. A strict result can be labeled 從殺格; meaningful but incomplete evidence remains 從殺未純.
The product returns evidence and blockers with the status. Its numeric thresholds are implementation controls for consistency, not ancient constants, and should never be exposed as a universal percentage rule or used to rewrite stored reports silently.

Following Killings is not violence, danger or submission
The pattern does not prove aggression, criminality, abuse, military talent, leadership, obedience, helplessness, trauma, accidents, imprisonment, illness or shortened life. Historical “abandon life” wording is structural rhetoric, not a literal risk statement.
Employment, safety, legal, medical and relationship decisions require observed facts, consent and qualified advice. Never screen a person or justify harmful conduct with this pattern.
