What Is Five Elements Convergence (五行拘聚) in BaZi?
Learn the strong-element threshold, generating chain, weak-Earth Mao-month example, hidden Fire-Earth support, non-conditions and OpenFate interpretation limits.
Overview
Five Elements Convergence is the workbook’s English name for 五行拘聚. The source contrasts ordinary overcoming with a special “constraining and gathering” explanation based on generation. It says the relevant Yin or Yang force must first be exceptionally strong, then gives a sequence in which strong Wood draws out Fire, strong Fire gathers Earth, strong Earth gathers Metal and strong Metal gathers Water. Its worked example uses a weak Earth Day Master born in Mao month with heavy Water Wealth and Wood Killing; one Wei in the day or hour contains Fire and Earth, allowing the source to trace Water to Wood, Wood to Fire and Fire back to Earth support. This is a source-specific explanatory chain, not a replacement for ordinary generation, control, roots or strength. OpenFate does not declare the pattern.

Convergence is an interpretive chain, not a new element law
The source keeps ordinary overcoming as the normal rule and presents convergence as a special way to trace how an overwhelming relation may generate the next phase.
It requires exceptional strength before using this language. One ordinary generating relation or the mere presence of several elements does not establish the pattern.

The weak-Earth example depends on a complete, anchored chain
An Earth Day Master in Mao month is weak while Water Wealth and Wood Killing are heavy. The day or hour then needs Wei, whose hidden Fire and Earth provide the source’s return path into support.
The chain must be audited link by link: Water supports Wood, Wood supports Fire, and Fire supports Earth. Missing Fire, unusable hidden stems, stronger counteraction or different season can break the explanation.
