Overview

Fortune and Elegance is the standard English name for 福德秀氣. The source limits the candidate set to the five Yin stems Yi, Ding, Ji, Xin and Gui seated on Si, You or Chou—15 complete day pillars tied to the Si-You-Chou Metal frame. The five stems do not use Metal in the same way: it may act as Killing, Wealth, Output, Resource or peer support. Month command, a completed Metal frame, supporting Ten Gods, fire damage and clashes therefore have to be reviewed by route. This is not the De Xiu Nobleman Shen Sha. OpenFate has no Fortune and Elegance pattern detector.

The candidate list is 15 exact day pillars, not any Metal-heavy chart

The source combines each of five Yin Day Stems—Yi, Ding, Ji, Xin and Gui—with Si, You and Chou. A matching stem or branch in another pillar is not enough, and Yang stems are outside this stated list.

A listed Day Pillar opens the review. The rest of the chart decides whether Si-You-Chou forms a useful Metal frame, whether the season supports it and whether clashes, punishments or fire damage alter it.

  • Validate the complete Day Pillar first.
  • Then test the actual Metal frame and seasonal state.

Each Yin stem gives Metal a different job

For Yi, Metal is Killing and needs control or Resource support. For Ding, Metal is Wealth that may generate Water Officer. For Ji, Metal is Output that can generate Water Wealth but may drain the Day Master. For Gui, Metal is Resource. For Xin, the frame reinforces Metal itself.

These roles create different favorable and unfavorable conditions. The text repeatedly tests birth month, exposed support and fire that damages the Metal frame. A single generic “Metal is auspicious” rule would erase the actual method.

  • Route by Day Stem before interpreting the frame.
  • Do not average the five pathways into one score.

Fortune and Elegance is distinct from OpenFate’s De Xiu Nobleman

OpenFate calculates the pillars, Si-You-Chou relations, elements and Ten Gods. It also has a separate month-based Shen Sha named De Xiu Nobleman. That similarly worded star is not the 福德秀氣 pattern described here.

No current rule verifies the 15-day allowlist, five stem routes, seasonal exceptions and Metal-frame damage as one pattern. The page preserves that distinction and does not modify reports or scores.

  • Keep 福德秀氣 and 德秀貴人 as different entities.
  • No composite output until route-level tests exist.

The name does not certify fortune, talent or longevity

Historical verses attach fame, hardship, illness, lifespan and conduct to these pillars. Those claims are not modern measurements and should not be applied to an individual.

Fortune and Elegance cannot prove talent, moral worth, career prospects, health, wealth or lifespan. Use it only as a bounded study of a classical classification.

  • Exclude health and lifespan claims.
  • Do not turn an auspicious title into an ability or outcome rating.
