Overview

Metal-Fire Refinement is the standard English name for 金火相成, a San Ming Tong Hui configuration illustrated by Yi Si, Xin Si, Geng Wu, Xin Si. Geng Metal sits in a Fire domain, two Xin stems provide Metal support, and the Si–Wu branches concentrate Fire; the passage values both sides as viable and proportionate. It does not mean that any Metal–Fire chart is refined, that Fire should always be added to Metal, or that pressure improves a person. The pattern does not prove skill, authority, resilience, career, wealth, health, or success.

The source describes one Metal–Fire structure, not a universal forging slogan

The cited chart is Yi Si, Xin Si, Geng Wu, Xin Si. Geng sits on Wu in a Fire domain, the two Xin stems keep Metal represented, and the branches are three Si plus one Wu. The passage says Metal and Fire each retain qi, then closes with a requirement that the two be appropriately matched.

“Metal needs Fire to become a vessel” is a classical craft metaphor. It does not establish that every Geng or Xin Day Master needs more Fire, that equal character counts are ideal, or that a harsh environment automatically creates excellence.

  • Reproduce the cited chart and identify the evidence supporting each side.
  • Treat the forging line as a structural metaphor, not a universal remedial rule.

Season, roots, usable qi, control, and damage determine whether both sides can function

A valid review must assess Geng strength, Xin support, the Fire season and roots, Officer–Killing purity, Resource and Wealth routes, hidden stems, combinations, clashes, and whether one side overwhelms the other. Two Metal and two Fire tokens do not establish parity.

Additional Fire may refine, over-control, or exhaust Metal depending on the natal chart and cycle. Additional Metal may supply capacity or resist the adopted authority route. Other structures and climate-regulation policies can take precedence and must remain separate.

  • Assess usable strength and relation function instead of raw element counts.
  • Keep natal structure, luck movement, damage, and competing policies distinct.

OpenFate shows Metal–Fire evidence but does not assign this aggregate label

OpenFate can calculate pillars, elements, Day-Master strength, roots, Ten Gods, hidden stems, branch interactions, and luck-cycle movement. It does not currently output Metal-Fire Refinement or prescribe Fire from this source metaphor.

A future detector would need exact eligibility, functional strength thresholds, Officer–Killing arbitration, damage precedence, positive and negative fixtures, and source-facing explanations in all five locales. This Wiki article does not change report behavior.

  • Do not infer the pattern from an element histogram or one Fire branch.
  • Require counterexamples and evidence text before any aggregate implementation.

Refinement imagery does not justify heat, pressure, or coercion

Metal-Fire Refinement does not prove discipline, talent, leadership, endurance, military fitness, promotion, wealth, morality, body constitution, inflammation, heart health, lung health, or success. Classical forging imagery is not medical or psychological evidence.

Do not recommend heat exposure, supplements, harsh training, workplace pressure, relationship control, or financial action from this pattern. Health, employment, education, and safety decisions require direct evidence and qualified professionals.

  • Exclude talent, pressure tolerance, office, wealth, and health claims.
  • Reject physical or social “refinement” remedies based on chart imagery.
