What Is Dedicated Lu Requires Control (專祿要制) in BaZi?
Learn the six Geng-day Si-hour rule, hidden Bing Killing, Wu Resource, Geng root, Water control, title boundary and OpenFate limits.
Overview
Dedicated Lu Requires Control is the workbook standard English name for 專祿要制. The source narrowly assigns it to any of the six Geng days born at a Si hour. Si contains Bing Fire, Wu Earth and Geng Metal: Bing is Seven Killing to Geng, Wu is Resource and Geng supplies a root; Si is also Geng Metal’s Changsheng stage. The passage calls for Ren or Gui Water to control Bing Fire. The inherited word Lu must not be expanded into a generic Lu detector or confused with Geng’s actual Lu position at Shen. Season, roots, the effective force of Bing and Water, competing Resource and branch interactions still decide whether the route works. OpenFate has no dedicated detector for this name.

The transmitted rule is a precise Geng-day Si-hour family
The source says “the six Geng days see a Si hour.” Every Geng-day member can produce a valid Si hour under the standard Five-Rats hour derivation, but the hour stem varies with the day stem. The stable rule is therefore the Geng Day Master plus Si hour branch, not one memorized two-character hour pillar.
Inside Si, Bing Fire is Geng’s Seven Killing, Wu Earth is Resource and Geng Metal is a root. Si is Geng’s Changsheng stage. These layers explain why the passage discusses both support and a Killing that needs control; they must not be collapsed into a vague claim that the chart “has Lu.”
- Verify the complete day and hour pillars before examining Si hidden stems.
- Keep Changsheng, root, Resource, Killing and Lu as distinct concepts.
Ren or Gui Water is a proposed control route, not an automatic cure
The classical passage asks for Ren or Gui Water to control Bing Fire. Water must itself have seasonal support, root or a usable position; excessive Earth Resource can obstruct it, while combinations or branch interactions can change the Si contents and the balance between support and pressure.
The Day Master must also be assessed. A strongly supported Geng may receive Bing differently from a weak, rootless Geng, and excessive control can create a different imbalance. The exact source family is only an eligibility test; formation still depends on effective qi and the whole chart.
- Test the strength and path of both Bing Killing and Water control.
- Do not declare success from Geng plus Si or from a single Water stem alone.
OpenFate can expose the ingredients without claiming this inherited aggregate
OpenFate calculates the day and hour pillars, hidden stems, Ten Gods, Day-Master strength, roots, Twelve Life Stages, Output control and branch interactions. It can therefore show Geng, Si, Bing, Wu, Geng and any Water evidence in a chart.
The product does not currently label Dedicated Lu Requires Control. A safe detector would need a reviewed Geng-day table, valid hour derivation, explicit treatment of the misleading Lu title, hidden-stem effectiveness, Water-control thresholds, competing Resource and timing fixtures. The Wiki page does not create a new report result.
- Use existing evidence fields without inventing a pattern badge.
- Require a versioned rule and negative fixtures before automation.
The old language of power and misfortune is not a modern prediction
Dedicated Lu Requires Control does not prove military authority, command, promotion, wealth, bravery, aggression, injury, disaster, illness or a favorable career. “Control” describes a symbolic element relationship; it is not advice to suppress a person or provoke conflict.
Career, health, legal and safety choices require direct evidence and qualified guidance. Use this rule as a narrow historical pattern study, and state its title ambiguity whenever it is discussed outside the source context.
- Exclude rank, wealth, violence, health and disaster claims.
- Preserve the title caveat so readers do not confuse Si with Geng Lu at Shen.
