What Is Inner Yang Outer Yin (內陽外陰) in BaZi?

Overview
Inner Yang Outer Yin is the English name for 內陽外陰. Its strict example treats Year and Hour as the outside and Month and Day as the inside, then uses Nayin phases: outer Metal and Water are classified as yin, while inner Fire and Wood are yang. A second route places Water outside and Wood inside, calling the image “Water Around a Flower Bank.” The passage then says that inside and outside need not be rigid if a coherent image forms. That final sentence broadens the positional rule without supplying a complete image table, so strict placement and broad imagery must remain separate. OpenFate does not detect this formation.

Position defines inside and outside; the source’s Nayin phases define yin and yang
The strict route assigns Year and Hour to the outer frame and Month and Day to the inner frame. It classifies outer Nayin Metal and Water as yin and inner Nayin Fire and Wood as yang, preserving all four pillar positions.
This use of yin and yang is not heavenly-stem polarity, sex, gender, introversion or Day-Master strength. Substituting visible branch phases or stem polarity changes the source layer.

Water Around a Flower Bank belongs to the broader imagery route
The second example uses Water in Year and Hour and Wood in Month and Day, picturing outer Water around inner Wood. The following sentence accepts a coherent image without rigidly fixing inside and outside.
The source does not list every valid image, position swap, role for Earth, defeating condition or priority. The broad route can be documented, but it cannot justify treating any yin–yang distribution as a match.
