What Is Generative Cycle (循環相生) in BaZi?
Learn the Gui-Si, Gui-Hai, Jia-Yin and Xin-Wei chain, what the source actually derives, what remains undefined and OpenFate product limits.
Overview
Generative Cycle is the workbook’s English name for 循環相生. The source records one chart: Gui-Si Year, Gui-Hai Month, Jia-Yin Day and Xin-Wei Hour. Its verse says the Year number reaches Gui-Hai, the Month again reaches Jia-Yin, and the Day leads to Xin-Wei. Year-to-Month and Day-to-Hour can be checked against classical stem-sequencing methods, but the terse Month-to-Day step is not a complete deterministic rule. The entry therefore documents one transmitted chain rather than inventing a universal cycle detector. OpenFate retains the calculated four pillars and does not issue a Generative Cycle verdict.

The source preserves one exact chain, not an abstract slogan
A source-faithful reading begins with the four complete pillars in their stated positions. It does not replace them with a generic Five-Phase generating cycle or with any four pillars that appear mutually supportive.
The verse uses different verbs for the steps: the Year “reaches” the Month by a numbered sequence, the Month “again reaches” the Day, and the Day “pushes” to the Hour. Those operations must not be silently treated as one identical formula.

Two links are checkable, while the middle link remains underdefined
The Gui Year to Gui-Hai Month link is compatible with the classical Year-to-Month stem sequence, and Jia Day to Xin-Wei Hour is compatible with the Day-to-Hour sequence. These checks do not establish the missing Month-to-Day method.
The short passage gives no alternate examples, cycle origin, reset rule, treatment of repeated pillars or defeating conditions. A responsible page labels that gap instead of completing the method from the pattern name.

The product calculates Year, Month, Day and Hour pillars from the user’s birth inputs and configured time policy. Those deterministic results remain the only product facts used here.
There is no Generative Cycle detector. This page adds no derived pillar, circular-generation edge, strength score, report conclusion, account field or saved-chart mutation.
